Pray For the World: to the Ends of the Earth

The number one request of persecuted Christians is “Pray for us.”

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. – Matthew 24:14

Please pray for specific places where Christians are sacrificing everything for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus name known to the ends of the earth. In doing so, they are experiencing persecution from peoples who oppose their message of love, hope and salvation that is offered by our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Enemy Villages
15 years ago, Karen and Henry Agagno built a church in a Muslim village in Kenya, Africa. After Henry died of an illness, Karen and their seven children have sacrificed their lives to remain in the village to faithfully share the Gospel with their neighbors, despite being persecuted for their faith. Pray that missionaries who plant churches in villages that are hostile to the Gospel will obediently sacrifice their safety, for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” – Luke 9:23

Remote Jungles
Believers living in rural Vietnam who are baptized for their faith in Jesus will likely face persecution, including eviction from their homes and continual pressure to reject Jesus. They willingly sacrifice their homes, families and friends to follow Jesus. Pray that followers of Jesus in remote jungle regions, where Jesus may not be known or where he is not welcomed, will have courage to remain faithful to him despite the sacrifices they are required to make for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. – Romans 12:1

War Zones
Pastor Matta, a front-line worker in Sudan’s war-torn Nuba Mountains, is not intimidated by the government’s attempts to eradicate followers of Jesus from the region. Front-line workers like Pastor Matta joyfully sacrifice comfort in order to proclaim the Gospel for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. – Revelation 7:9

Mountainous Terrain
Though Bibles are legal in Nepal, Bible distribution is opposed by Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Marxist rebels. The small population of believers are harassed and sometimes beaten for following Jesus. Missionaries and Bible distributors sacrifice their safety to get Bibles into the hands of both believers and unbelievers. The Bible is crucial to the faith and perseverance of believers like those in Nepal, who are living in persecution. Pray for discreet strategies for Bible distributors as they smuggle Bibles into dangerous nations for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

We had previously suffered and been insulted in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God, we dared to tell you his gospel in spite of strong opposition. – 1 Thessalonians 2:2

Desert Nations
When Yemenis people leave Islam, their relatives typically persecute them, and sometimes even kill them, for bringing shame on the family. Converts to Christianity often sacrifice their families and sometimes their lives for Jesus. Indigenous believers sacrifice their lives by obediently witnessing to Muslims in Yemen and other nations where proselytizing is illegal and where borders are closed to foreign people entering the country. Pray that indigenous missionaries will be obedient to share the gospel and make disciples for the purpose of glorifying God and making Jesus known to the ends of the earth.

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love… My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:10, 12-13
