"You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse,deceiving and being deceived." - Paul the apostle, 2 Timothy 3:10-13
Iran is a predominantly Muslim nation located in the Middle East. It is bordered by the nations of Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. A portion of the Northern part of the nation is bordered by the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea are along the Southern border.
Approximately 99% of the population are Muslim with less than 1% being Christian. The Voice of the Martyrs characterizes Iran as a Restricted nation meaning that government sanctioned circumstances or anti-Christian laws lead to Christians being harassed, imprisoned, killed or deprived of possessions or liberties because of their witness. Restricted also include countries where government policy or practice prevents Christians from obtaining Bibles or other Christian literature.
Iran is listed as number eight on Open Doors USA 2017 World Watch List due to its severe persecution of Christians.
According to PeopleGroups.org, Iran contains 47 people groups of which 45 are unreached (UPG) and of which 25 are unreached and unengaged (UUPG).

For every five people I’ve shared my faith with, two gave their lives to the Lord. 84% of Muslims who have heard the Gospel in the past 12 years have given their lives to Jesus. - Pray for Mullah and Imran who are sharing the gospel, making disciples and establishing simple churches. These simple churches have to meet "underground" to avoid attacks. Pray for wisdom, boldness, dreams & visions, miraculous healings, and receptive hearts.
- Pray that Christians will be prepared for the possibility of arrest and imprisonment at any time.
- Pray that Christians will continue to fearlessly make Christ known to those who don’t know him.
- Pray that God will thwart the enemy’s plans as Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security monitor the activities of Christians.
