Pray for the World: Christians in Yemen

Please join us in praying for Christians within the nation of Yemen. 

“Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.” – John 15:20

Yemen is a predominantly Muslim nation located at the bottom of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. It is bordered by the nation of Oman with the Arabian Sea located along the Southern border and the Red Sea located along the Western border.  

Nearly 100 % of the population are Muslim with less than 0.5 % being Christian. The Voice of the Martyrs characterizes Yemen as a Restricted nation meaning that government sanctioned circumstances or anti-Christian laws lead to Christians being harassed, imprisoned, killed or deprived of possessions or liberties because of their witness. Restricted also include countries where government policy or practice prevents Christians from obtaining Bibles or other Christian literature.

Yemen is listed as number nine on Open Doors USA 2017 World Watch List due to its severe persecution of Christians.

According to PeopleGroups.org, Yemen contains 17 people groups of which 17 are unreached (UPG) and of which 15 are unreached and unengaged (UUPG).

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Yemen:

• Pray that God will open doors for the Gospel to be shared within the country. 
• Pray for courage and boldness for Christians to share the Gospel fearlessly in a nation where Muslims want to eradicate Christians from the Arabian Peninsula. 
• Pray for fellowship of believers. 
• Pray that God will provide ways for Christians to grow in Christ. 
• Pray that God will spark a revival throughout the homeland of Islam. 
• Pray that Christians will forgive those who persecute them. 
• Pray that the American church will stand with, support and pray for Christians in Yemen.
