Pray for the World: Persecuted Christians in Sudan

Please join us in praying for Christians who are persecuted for their faith within the nation of Sudan, from now until August 20th.

Sudan is a predominantly Muslim nation located in Northeast Africa. 
Approximately 90.1% of the population are Muslim with only 5.0% being Christian. The Voice of the Martyrs characterizes Sudan as a Restricted nation meaning that government sanctioned circumstances or anti-Christian laws lead to Christians being harassed, imprisoned, killed or deprived of possessions or liberties because of their witness. Restricted also include countries where government policy or practice prevents Christians from obtaining Bibles or other Christian literature. 
Sudan is listed as number five on Open Doors USA 2017 World Watch List due to its severe persecution of Christians.

Conversion from Islam is punishable by death. The government prosecutes those accused of apostasy, applies a strict interpretation of Islamic law and harasses the country’s Christian community. Recently, the government has confiscated church property and supported attacks on churches. In the Nuba Mountains, the government carries out an ongoing bombing campaign against the Christian population.

• Pray that God continues to provide Bibles and other Christian literature to Sudanese believers (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

• Pray that despite suffering, Sudanese Christians will continue to reach out to Muslims with the Good News of the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:8-9).

• Pray they will know that the Church around the world is standing with and praying for them (1 Corinthians 12:25-26).

• Ask the Lord to equip and guide you as to how you might intercede so that they will not suffer in silence (Hebrews 13:1-3, 16).

• Pray they know that even while they may be humiliated, deprived of justice- even killed- their stories and witness do not go untold (Mark 14:9).

• Pray they know that even if they are afflicted, they are not, and never will be forgotten (Hebrews 6:10-12).

• Pray that Sudanese Christians will not deny God during suffering (John 13:16).
