The Radical Experiment Part 1

Have New Year's resolutions? Want to do something life changing, something world transforming, something radical? Consider the Radical Experiment.

A five part series based on the book Radical by David Platt.

THE RADICAL EXPERIMENT
A one year challenge to radical obedience

The five components
1.  pray for the entire world
2.  read through the entire Word
3.  sacrifice your money for a specific purpose
4.  spend your time in another context
5.  commit your life to a multiplying community

Pray for the entire world

Dr. David Platt -“In a world where more than 4.5 billion people are without Christ and more than a billion are on the edge of starvation, we have to begin somewhere”. Dr. Platt uses the example of Jesus in Matthew 9 & 10 to describe the need for his people to pray. During Jesus’ travels, he had compassion on the people “because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd”. In other words they were broken and lost. So Jesus says to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Dr. Platt suggests that the only possible explanation for how people can be in such great need to hear the gospel yet there be so few workers, is because we are not praying. Dr. Platt says, “The multitudes are waiting to hear, and our most urgent need is to pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out Christians into the harvest field. This is the step that you and I are most likely to overlook and yet the one that is most dangerous for us to ignore.”
Connect the practice of prayer with the purpose of God in the world. Intentionally, specifically and audaciously pray for God’s purpose to be accomplished around the world.
